How Often Food Meets Music

Food, oddly enough, is not featured prominently in my listening library.
I was curious, so I decided to find out which songs on my iPod had either:
- a food in the title
- referenced consuming food in the title
- a drink in the title
- referenced drinking in the title
Here’s what I found:
- The Good, The Bad and The Chutney (Anandji Kalyanji)
- Fists of Curry (Anandji Kalyanji)
- Rhubarb (Aphex Twin)
- That’s Not Beef, That’s Pork (Atmosphere)
- Pour Me Another (Atmosphere)
- Drunk On Love (Basia)
- An Olive Tree (Basia)
- Sheep Go To Heaven (Cake)
- Cherry Twist (Crystal Method)
- Wonce Again Long Island (De La Soul)
- Long Island Degrees (De La Soul)
- Hungry Like The Wolf (Duran Duran)
- Black Cherry (Goldfrapp)
- Deep Honey (Goldfrapp)
- When I Was Drinking (Hem)
- Chips Ahoy (The Hold Steady)
- Citrus (The Hold Steady)
- Biscuit (Portishead)
- Tooty Frooty (Rattbelly)
- Buy Her Candy (Rattbelly)
- Super Bon Bon (Soul Coughing)
- Soft Serve (Soul Coughing)
- Chicken Shake (Stereo MC’s)
- Sugar On My Tongue (Talking Heads)
- Popsicle (Talking Heads)
- Long Island (that dog)
- Please Pass The Milk (TMBG)
- Ball & Biscuit (The White Stripes)
The following are “honorable mention” for being related to food:
- Digging In The Dirt (Peter Gabriel)
- Empty Garden (Elton John)
- Bartender (Regina Spektor)
- Sugar Free Jazz (Soul Coughing)
- Dinner Bell (TMBG)
- I am a Grocery Bag (TMBG)
Funny… I expected more, but really everything above isn’t even 3% of my entire iPod library (disclosure: I have an oooooold iPod which requires me to pick and choose my iPod library. I cannot put my entire music collection on it, so yes, I own quite a bit more than 1000 songs).
