A true rebel probably wouldn’t spend time reading how to take good shots… she’d probably just go out and shoot away.
On the other side of my photography experiments, I finally received my Canon Rebel XTi last week, and a gazillion aftermarket “necessities.” As high tech as this purchase was, it also involved about 12 purchase points and countless shipments, as opposed to my Felica, which was one purchase and one shipment. I guess more technical does not equal more simple.
Anyway, it has been fun reading through the manual and trying different shots at home to see what, if anything, I am learning. I decided to forgo the usual kit lens (a zoom), based on reviews that were less than favorable. Instead I bought a fixed focal length 50mm which so far has been working (and capturing) beautifully… insofar as the user is able to coax it. :-) I have also been reading articles and forums online to gather techniques on concert/club photography, which is something I want to get back into. There’s a lot of great advice out there. For me, however, it’s also a matter of understanding how aperture, exposure, DOF, and ISO all work together. So much to learn…
My parents stopped by on Sunday to deliver birthday wishes and gifts (I now own a featherbed!). I never know which of them I look like more...
We see here the Dan in his native habitat. The Dan thrives best in environments capable of sustaining Apple products, Edward Gorey images, and coffee.I’m really happy with how these turned out. For not using flash, the light quality represented in the photos is darn close to the actual light in the room.
Go ahead, have your say!
