Busting my ass to bring you humor
Today I met with my personal trainer for the first time in about two years. With a trip planned in April to hike in the Olympic National Park—and with me not having been in the gym in over a year thanks to poor job-stress management—I need to get in shape in 9 weeks to fully enjoy it. I told her I’d be hiking, and she faithfully gave me some very good, yet challenging, superset exercises.
One thing she is having me do is more walking and stair-climbing. I have avoided the stair-climbing machines up until this point, but I guess now is a good a time as any to start. There are two types at our gym: one is sort of a revolving stair/treadmill, the other is the more common step stairmaster.
I was on the latter this afternoon, just to get the hang of it. As my iPod cycled through random selections, I noted with not a little irony that the song that most closely matched the level and speed of my stair mastering was Cake’s “The Distance.”
Go ahead, have your say!
